The Manager / Senior Manager, Communications is a strategic thinker who is required to manage multifaceted marketing and communications campaigns across a variety of channels (e.g., print, presentations, video, visual and digital media, media relations, community relations, special events, email and the Web) to promote a consistent, compelling brand and message of philanthropic giving to the University. He/she will be responsible for managing the department’s marketing and communications efforts from concept through execution and distribution.

The incumbent must exhibit a strong desire to serve the needs of a fast-paced, high-volume Marcomms operation that incorporates the full range of print, multimedia and online communications tools to meet strategic goals.

This person must be a strong writer and editor, able to produce compelling content, while creating additional materials for the President of the University, the department and other key leaders.

Duties & Responsibilities :
  • Develop, implement and evaluate marketing and communication strategies and products, including campaign-related promotional materials, creative development, website, publications, social media channels, as well as correspondences for senior management and volunteers with the goal of driving fundraising support and enhancing the university's image and position within the community and society at large.
  • Implement best practices in market segmentation, put in place forward-thinking and aligned marketing strategies and execute these efficiently to increase participation and revenue for donor programmes
  • Source for, develop and write stories to highlight the benefits of philanthropic giving to the University and its greater impact on the community
  • Effectively engage internal and external media to communicate the University’s social impact and the role of private support in achieving the University’s mission
  • Use available market research to understand the competitive landscape and design effective marketing interventions
  • Develop and regularly reporting on a set of metrics for measuring the effectiveness of the department’s marketing and communications programme
  • Act as primary liaison to the President's office for all related gift acknowledgments and correspondence.
  • Write letters, speeches and design presentations / other materials for the University President and senior management
  • Design, write and produce individualized communications and deliverables that recognize principal and major gift donor cohorts to convey the impact of their philanthropy
  • Stay abreast of continued advances in communications, marketing and web best practices and technologies that can meet institutional needs.
  • Responsible for overseeing that the work of vendors (including graphic designers, web designers, photographers, videographers, freelance writers, printers, and others as needed) comes in on time and on budget. 
Qualifications (Requirements)
  • Graduate from a recognised University with at least 8 years’ experience in marketing and communications
  • Strong background in marketing and communications, with a proven track record of developing and implementing marketing and communication strategies to advance an organization's strategic goals
  • Demonstrated ability to develop clear, targeted, and non-traditional branding and marketing strategies tailored for different audiences and channels
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, including superior skills in writing, translating complex concepts for a general audience, and a strong graphic and design sense
  • Highly collaborative style with the energy, maturity and leadership to serve as a unifying force and position marketing and communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels
  • Excellent organizational and project management / leadership skills with high attention to details, ability to multi-task and work under pressure with high levels of efficiency and accuracy
  • Sound judgement and the ability to think strategically are essential
  • Proficient in all aspects of computer operation and software (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, etc.)
