For starters, we are not a typical company. Neither is this a typical role, where you nicely fit into a job description and do only and exactly what you are told. An analyst at Meiro is a creative and adventurous role. We are a business-savvy startup with two main teams. First at our home base in Singapore, where business and client services are and Brno, the Czech Republic where our product team is. Recently we also started building a small team in Jakarta, where we plan to grow! The founding team has 8 years of presence in Singapore and APAC market with a wide range of experience from digital analytics to enterprise software.  At Meiro, through our product and know-how, we are solving data fragmentation problem most brands experienced. Our Customer Data Platform once and for all creates the ultimate single view of customers. Yes we know that is something every software vendor talks about it, but for us it is our brand and butter. We breath customer data, we eat data integration and we sleep.. well, we don’t sleep all that much because, you know, startup. We are very, very proud of the product and culture we are building. We might be young and fresh company but we are dead serious when it comes to business. Our product has only been on the market since September 2018 but we already work with clients and partners in Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong or Australia with large enterprises and brands, you would recognize!

DATA ANALYST AT MEIRO
We don’t expect you to be a super(wo)man, at least not just yet. But you should have some experience. With the right attitude, lots of technical skills can be learned really quickly. We are more interested in the cultural fit and attitude, we are in the end a pretty weird bunch.

Rather than a plain old job description, we asked one of our best analysts to lay out for you, what does it mean to be a data analyst at Meiro. Fasten your seat belt and let’s get into it. In a nutshell, my job involves:

You should be pretty familiar with all common types of commercially used databases, but most importantly PostgreSQL
Be familar with consuming REST APIs!
Have some experience with building ETL pipelines
You need to be a “LOSQL” (Lord of SQL). We come across all flavors of SQL on a daily basis. How to construct efficient queries for transforming and cleaning data. If something is not fast/efficient enough, could an index here and there help?
Be somewhat familiar with Python which you will need for data transformation that SQL is not able to handle or too slow
Be familiar with basic data structures (data types i.e.integers, strings) and data modeling and data schema
Know essential data transfer formats (CSV, JSON), and be familiar with finding exact information inside API documentation
Last but not least, you must have exposure to the business. You should know what CRM is and some awareness of what digital marketing is about. Business experience is key. An analyst at Meiro works face to face with clients and solves real-world business problems.
